A tragic wreck in Fairfield County claimed the life of a person. The accident took place on Newberry Road, on Tuesday, January 4, around 5:30 p.m., according to Cpl. Joe Hovis of the SC Highway Patrol.
According to the reports, a pickup truck was involved in the accident. The pickup truck was headed west as it was driving on Newberry road when it veered right off it. The pickup truck struck a guardrail and after being struck, the vehicle overturned. Moreover, the driver was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the Police. He was extricated from the pickup truck and immediately rushed to MUSC Fairfield, where he succumbed to his severe injuries.
The name and identification of the driver were not released yet and South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the wreck in Fairfield County.
